Averil Franklin Stewart
Averil is a motivated and enthusiastic Principal Agile Consultant with over 17 years’ experience in the software development industry. She has in depth knowledge of all areas of the software delivery lifecycle, having coached agile teams, teams of teams, portfolio and executive groups. Her background before joining IJI, was primarily focussed on regulatory practices and compliance within the UK Healthcare technology and Pharmaceutical industries. She supports compliance in agile environments and has 10 years of building and refining ALM systems such as Jira to meet industry certification, e.g. ISO standards. She has facilitated the adoption of agile frameworks, (most recently focussed on SAFe) and agile best practices across multiple businesses at team, team of teams and value stream level.
A Certified Scrum Master and SAFe Program Consultant (SPC), Brian is an experienced agile coach, consultant, trainer, and change agent. He has spent the last 20 years in the software and IT consulting industry as a practitioner and coach, and is one of the Founders of IJI in the UK. Brian specializes in the adoption of key software development practices in a pragmatic and sustainable way. He has broad expertise in agile, iterative and incremental software development processes such as SCRUM, the Essential Unified Process, the Unified Process, and the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe).
Brian was one of the first trainers outside of the Scaled Agile Academy to qualify as a SAFe Program Consultant Trainer (SPCT) having worked with the framework since its initial inception ten years ago. Brian regularly delivers the SAFe Program Consultant training and has delivered it over a hundred times in the last 8 years; more than anyone else in the world. Brian has been involved in SAFe implementations at numerous companies across Europe including hybris, PZU, Ford, Nordea, NHS Blood + Transplants, Etihad Airlines, Sony Playstation and LV Insurance.
Ian specializes in large-scale agile adoptions and practice-based organizational change. An experienced agile coach he has worked with 100s of projects to introduce iterative and agile practices, working with development teams ranging from 5 – 150 people. He has also led numerous successful, large-scale transformation projects in fields as diverse as government, telecommunications, finance, and internet start-ups, working with development organization of 5 – 5,000 people. His current interests are agile for large projects, agile out-sourcing, and driving sustainable change with agile measurements. He is also the co-author of two influential software development books, “Use Case Modeling” and “Managing Iterative Software Development Projects”, and the team lead for the development of the SEMAT kernel.
Keith de Mendonca
Keith de Mendonca joined Ivar Jacobson International in 2015. Keith is a proven leader and software architect with eighteen years of industry experience working in technical roles and holding positions as a software engineer, line manager, chief architect, coach, and VP. Prior to IJI, Keith worked and lived in the UK, Asia and India for companies such as Nokia, Accenture and Symbian primarily focused on writing, designing and delivering embedded software for ‘smartphone’ mobile phone operating systems, and apps.
Marika has broad experience of optimizing and developing teams engaged in iterative software development using SCRUM. She is an experienced coach and trainer and has worked at all levels within organisations, aiding in managing change and fostering the adoption of software development best practice. Marika works with individuals, development teams, programs, senior leadership and supporting roles and functions to increase engagement, transparency and communication. Marika is a passionate advocate of iterative development practices with 13 years of experience in Electronics and Software Engineering.
Mike is a highly motivated qualified SPC (SAFe Program Consultant), experienced Agile transformation coach and Solution Train Engineer with a strong implementation, technical, Agile training (coaching) and managerial background. He has over 20 years experience in the software industry, primarily in the healthcare sector. Over the last five years Mike has built up extensive knowledge in Agile at scale across a complex alliance of companies. He has lead transformations by facilitating the adoption of SAFe and Lean thinking. He has hands on implementation skills in working with Agile at scale across multiple value streams, aligning multiple trains to a single vision and cadence.
Richard is a certified SAFe Program Consultant (SPC) and Scrum at Scale Practitioner, with over 20 years of experience leading software development and delivery organisations across multiple industry sectors. Coming from a hands-on development and architecture background, Richard held the position of Director of Development for a leading academic publishing company before joining IJI. He is particularly creative in experimenting with new practices to drive organizational effectiveness and has been leading agile adoption in large and complex businesses for more than half of his career.
Robert joined Ivar Jacobson International in 2021 and has over 15 years industry experience working in Agile roles such as PMO Departmental Manager, Project Manager and Scrum Master in a wide range of companies such as BP, Walgreens Boots Alliance, Nokia. RELX and Dentsu, working in both the UK and Internationally. He is strong consulting professional skilled in Portfolio Management, Budgeting, Business Improvement and Agile transition in both Internal and client facing roles. Robert has experience with implementing Scaled Agile Framework from the ground up and is a qualified SAFe Practitioner and SAFe Scrum Master.
Simon is an experienced Agile Coach and a regular speaker and contributor to the Agile community. A Subject Matter Expert on Agile for the British Computer Society (BCS) for whom he is currently writing a book on Agile from First Principles. A Scrum Alliance Certified Scrum Professional and Fellow of the IET and BCS, he has experience and been certified in a wide range of Agile approaches including SAFe, LeSS, Scrum@Scale and Kanban. Simon has significant experience helping teams and organizations pragmatically develop practices and approaches to delivery that embody Agile principles and draw on the experiences of others, without necessarily following a single proscribed method.
